Baccarat and the Chinese Popularity?
Why is Baccarat so popular in China? It is a French game. I was looking at the Macau number and the casinos made over $12 billion in baccarat in 2008 (about 86% of gaming revenue not counting pari-mutuals and lotteries). That’s more money than they make in all the casinos in Nevada.
Why Baccarat? It is much much more popular than Fish-Prawn-Crab, Sic-Bo Cussec and Fan Tan or Blackjack and Craps.

Yes, Baccarat is popular with Asians and was created by the French. Of course, Asians are into almost all types of gambling, so it shouldn’t be much of a surprise.
Cricket is an English game and it is wildly popular with people from Pakistan and India. The reasons for them enjoying cricket are the same.

Baccarat is a great game to play as it offers the best odds in the casino.
i think the reason its not as popular in the west is the air of snobbishness that goes with it in most casinos makes most people unwilling to chance their hand – this doesnt exist as much in Asia.
hope this helps

The popularity of the game in China is often linked to the country’s obsession with luck, manifested in lucky colours to auspicious dates.
